Season 2 Ends

As you can see, W/Os have been given and players have been kicked - alot more than I thought :-( (including all of my div lol)

I havn't scheduled playoffs because I can't see the point tbh - hardly any divs have a player ranked 7th.

OK, time for the season to end. You must play all games before next Thursday 4th June. I was meant to post this last week so to try and be fair I have extended the season by a week.

You may still play if a walkover has been given and you both want to - just post somewhere or send me an e-mail and I will reset the match.

Next Friday, the last of the W/Os will be given and the playoffs will be scheduled. You must play at the weekend!

DivZero overview goes hatred

I had a hard time finding a person who would have wanted to do an overview on div zero, so i turned to the one guy who i know is capable of delivering some verbally whiplashing predictions, heres the overview of div zero by Mr Hatred, Sassa

Whats going on in the field of dreams?
The fabric of 1on1 gives QuakeWorld a new touch of magic each time a new league starts, the new rhythm, aim and tricks.
The tenderness of hope to see yet another Griffin, Dag, Reppie or even a new Milton?
The borders are nowadays wide open and the Russians, Norwegians have entered the fearful DivZero.
In this years lineup you may see some unknown characters and some old ones but what we are missing is the old 1on1 junkies that in the past used to make our heartbeat go ten times faster when they played, because they put us on the QW-map.
Dag, thinking players.
Griffin, attacking players.
Reppie, all countries below Scandinavia
Gamer/fix/milton for all finish.
Now we have a new set up players that will fill in that gap of emptiness with some new SHIT and hardcore shit because this game is old as shit and hardcore as shit, you will therefor not miss the old faces if you just believe in another new dag, griffin, milton or whatever your pop-idol was when you were a 14 year old kid with pimples.
I will examine this years lineup with my, oh so famous, ashol criticism. I dont care about your feelings (goblin) and not about the "fame" that you think you have. I will shit on you because your shit or Ill lift you up to the skies if your nick is dag and deserve it.
Now lets end this endless crap and start flaming the players, because thats why Im really writing this shit :)

This guy has won almost everything with cMF and has been very close of winning 1on1 tourneys, his playing style is not in the usual way, he can either win 40-39 or loose 0-60. Its not often that you see him vs good opponents in him winning with a big margin.
I guess its his way of looking at QW, him and his pal fix. He plays it for the enjoyment and not for getting a bigger ego *caugh*goblin*caugh*

Form: He plays regularly and is in almost all 1on1 tourneys lately.

Background:
This kid came to me and asked me if I could write a little prediction for QWDL. A little? dude I guess you dont know me, I dont often write little predictions. He didnt even tell me to go soft on the ashol-talk :)
He is not well known in the duel parts of QW, he often hangs around in the basement of qw.fi and plays vs rookies with his 12ms and is thrilled over his achievement of getting 35% lg on pov. Please!!!!
Your now in DivZero so get ready for some real aswooopin. To much ego for this kid, I hope fifi will show him that skills go before aim, but he can upset alot of fans out there!

Form:
His form is good, he is active as a player but I dont know if he has even been in a league lately.

Arnette:
Background
A very sharp 1on1 player that has brought his talent from Norway to Sweden if Im not mistaken? (I think he lives in .se now) His aim is very nice and he showed us how good he is when he took the second place in the QW.ru Invitational duel tournament. He can win this whole shit if he gears up a notch.

Form: Active 4on4/2on2 but not seen him in a 1on1 game in a long long time.

bps:
Background
Long consistent 4on4, 2on2 and 1on1 player that have been in most of the tourneys the past years. Getting better and better for each year but not in the pace that I thought he would have. A slow walker you are bps, but he will get in the top one summer day! His playing style is like Riker's, the way he moves his arm and how he sits with his boxershorts when he plays qw (inside joke).
But he is a Fighter with a capital F. but again fuck no. You dont have what it takes to win this, u will go far but its not enough.
The weakness in you is the lack of CS, my suggestion is: watch ONLY dag demos and copycat, not in the cge way to only master one map, but in all maps.

Form: He is back home after two thrilling trips to the alps and South Africa? But dont think he isnt in shape because of that, he can play 24/7 just to win this and say HAHA to me, yes I will shut up then and call you "bps, the new Dag"

The Russian ping faker? I have a need to fuck around with people but with people I have never talked to is not the way I do things!
I have NEVER talked to bulat, why? He is a stone-cold-only-russian-talking-bastard! Thats why!!
With a ping that is so unhuman that even goqsane will stop whining.
Has played good in several tourneys and can go far far in this aswell.

Another of those, cge types! He comes when it pleases him and goes when ever he wants to. Never been the stable player that you can count on for a schedule game but he has surprised me the past months with the Aerowalk tourney!!!
He is a 1 map guy and cant really touch anything than his own balls. Yeah I like you KP but your not cut out for this rape. This is divzero, your div5 at the best!!!

never been a pure 1on1 player, plays mostly 2on2s with good player or 4on4 with Slackers. Seen him so many times playing end or some other bullshit map just for the winamp sake. Please go back where you came from and take kingpin with you, your faces will be in the dirt licking saddams balls.

The winner of some tourneys is here again!!! He can do all that shit that you want to but you cant. Makes my balls go on fire when I see him on dm2 but yet he always plays dm4 instead?!?!??!!? shit on you lockitoppen!!
Somehow he has improved alot when the topguns of 1on1 stopped and took over. "Dont taze me bro!" He can upset alot if he gets in shape but thats the only way for him to get jiggy with it!

The dropping rl pack oldschooler is here and is getting better and better for each damn day so watch out now!

Your LG sux so damn much that even hagge beats you!!! Shape up that lg 5x and you might get over 20% in a game

Problems with log upload

As we have heard from several players, there seems to be a problem with the log upload. We hope to have this fixed after the weekend.

To those who have uploaded logs and got an error message in return. It seems that it won't be necessary for you to upload the logs again after the fix. However, we would like to ask you to keep your logs, that in case something goes wrong you still can reupload and claim your awards.

Last information before Season 2 takes off

I just want to give you all a small checklist before the season starts.

You should all add the following lines into your config:

/match_auto_sshot 1 (will take a screen shot at the end of every match)
/match_auto_logconsole 2 (will save the log at the end of every match)
/log_readable 1 (will turn the non printable characters in your cfg into printable)
The screenshot and the log will be stored in this directory: Quake\qw\duel

You will need to upload the logs if you want to have a chance of receiving awards.

You should also upload the screenshots and demos. To get the demo type

/dlist (will give you a list with a lot of demos. Yours will be one of the last five)
/cmd dl xxx (instead of xxx type in the number of your demo)

into your console. Note: You have to wait for the „Server Recording Completed“ message to get the correct number of your demo.

Last but not least: Read the rules, as they differ from last season, especially regarding postponements, walkovers and going inactive.

New rules in Season 2

We decided to change a few rules to increase activity in general and to get rid of inactive players:

1. The schedule will be 1 game per week.
2. Players who have not played at least one game within the first 3 weeks will be kicked and banned for season 3. (when we see that you really try to find your opponents, but they do not show up, you will not be kicked and banned)
3. Players who have played less than 5 games at the end of the season will be removed from the final ranking and be banned for season 3. (when we see that you really try to find your opponents, but they do not show up, you will not be banned)
4. There will be no point reduction system this time. If a game is not played 3 weeks after its scheduled date, either we will give 0 points to both or give WOs (not decided yet).

As these rules are not set in stone yet, you can still discuss them on Quakeworld.nu.

Sign-ups for Season 2 are open now

We have opened the sign-ups today. They will remain open till February 27th. The 2nd season will start March 1st, so this will give us a few days for the seeding.

Note, as we will increase the player per divisions to 10, winning your div last season wont necessarily mean that you will promote a division, as we have to take drop outs and new players into consideration. Your rank and especially if you finished 1st, 2nd, or 7th, 8th will be taken into account.

First things first – I would like to say sorry to the community as a whole and especially the other QWDL admins. I didn’t really think the first season would ever really happen and so I never got the site ready for season 2.

The good news is that the site is now ready to go for as many seasons as you want! I have added a couple of new things so that all pages show info based on the selected season (see top left corner – only 1 ATM) – everything (apart from site membership) is per season – like the awards.

You can now select a proper time zone on your page so that all times will be shown in your local time.

Don’t forget that you can ask for new stuff (and vote!) on the feature requests page.

It would be good if any of the admins that haven’t been about could pop on IRC sometime and if anyone else wants to help – let an admin know in #qwdl.

Razor Interview Part3/3

And last but not least, the final part of this interview trilogy, that has become so much bigger and longer then planned. Enjoy!

You have been a top QW player in 4on4, 2on2 and 1on1 for several years, but you have never been in the spotlight as much as players like Paradoks, Locktar and especially reppie. Do you prefer to be in the „second line“ and not having all eyes on you and be able to play your games without as much pressure or do you prefer the situation in Fragomatic which has a strong line-up but not such a „star player“ stealing you the show.?

razor: Hard question :) well I think I feel I have gotten the exact amount of recognition that I deserve. The reason im not in spot light as the likes of dag,paradoks and reppie etc are.. is because I am not as good. I think 1on1 does alot in qw for the "fame".. players like xantom who sucks donkey ball in 1on1 but are extremly good in 4on4 never really get much attention either. But I think that stuff doesnt matter that much :) About how it effects me.. I think actually opposit.. that I would play better if I have eyes on me, its sort of a motivation thing then. When you get quad and you know the cams are on you.. you can be rambo and do rambo-stuff. :) I dont think the situation has changed from FS to the FOM-team now.. in fs we never really had star players except reppie.. so the show was up for grabs then.. :) And to skip the joke about spoink being bad he actually was the one who often were the best in the important officials

nix: Ok and now the final and really long question
Quakeworld is a small hardcore community in which everbody knows everbody. This allows us , the Quakeworld community, to do whatever we want, making our own rules. But, there are always people who want to drag QW out of the shadows into the spotlight and making it „pro“. So here is the question: If you could make it happen, what would you do? Would you make Quakeworld the biggest e-sports title in history with a lot of pro players, price money, events and so on, but with all the negative side effects like cheaters, kewl kiddies thinking they are 1337 etc. or would you leave it the small and friendly scene we all know at the moment?

razor: Interesting question :) Well both have good and bad sides but I think I would have to choose to make it PRO! It would be really cool and fun in many ways. And we have lingered in the small and friendly scene for so long.. with alot of eras with inactivity and hard finding pracs etc. So a change would for me personally be most welcome. After my time playing dota it is really fun when you can play pracs every day vs 5 different clans you havent even heard about. From all sort of countries that you havent even heard about either :P The negative with that is ofcourse that most of those clans are 16 years old and so lame that you just wanna kill yourself. But still it would be fun to have that thing in QW, and then you could at least rape the shit out of those kewl kiddies :P And who would say no to being sponsored to ASIA,USA etc and attend tournaments with alot of attention and prizemoney. But I am afraid I think it wont happen :) But I think qw will still be played in like forever.. when we are still 65 years old.. instead of gather up a bunch of old men playing boul together. We play qw :)
